Women's International Reporters Exchange

Notes Home

The Women’s International Reporter’s Exchange (W.I.R.E.) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization for female journalists in New York City and abroad. It will provide a network for the transmission and exchange of ideas, with the goal of strengthening opportunities for women within the media world in the US and internationally.

W.I.R.E. aims to increase the involvement of women in the media through its provision of a workspace for freelance female journalists. Realizing that the benefits of a newsroom atmosphere – the ready exchange of information, ideas and contacts – is foregone when working alone as a freelancer, W.I.R.E. endeavors to create a space for female journalists in all areas of the media to come together. Further, those interested in becoming more involved in reporting, writing, editing, and organizing within the wide realm of the media will be linked through the W.I.R.E. website. Both the physical space and the virtual site will guarantee an up-to-date network of stories, contacts, and job opportunities.  Watch out for blog posts from China, soon to come on line.
